MESSAGE FOR YOGA BEGINNERS
Not flexible? Don’t worry! Just come with a smile and a flexible mind haha!
Many of our students hesitate to start yoga as they think they not flexible enough for yoga. Rest assured, you are not the only one thinking this. Yet we all know that for one to become flexible, one must start some kind of stretching excersise.
Why not start with yoga?
Yoga for the body
Yoga is a great way to both gain flexibility and strength, therefore it is beneficial for both men and women alike.
Some of the benefits of flexibility are:
- Improves your performance in physical activities.
- Decreases your risk of injuries.
- Increases muscle blood flow.
- Improves your ability to do daily activities.

YOGA
A beautiful stretched out back bends with pointed toes. Yoga is often associated with stretching and dance like movements. But as a seasoned yogic practitioner knows, there is more to yoga than what we see and praise on Instagram.
Yoga is a physical and mental practice that originated in ancient India, dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization (c. 3500-1500 BCE) in the northwestern regions of South Asia.
The term “Yoga” in Sanskrit language means “to Unite”. There are many interpretations as to what what we are uniting and the answers may vary in accordance to the level and understanding of ones yoga practice.
Yoga practice includes poses or postures known as Asanas. Some of the famous Asanas you might recognize are Warrior poses (Virabhadrasana) or Downward facing dog poses (Adho mukha svanasana). In B. K. S. Iyengar’s 1966 Light on Yoga over 200 asanas are mentioned.
Another important component of yoga practice is the breathing or Pranayama. This can coincide with the Asana practices but also can be practiced individually. Pranayama helps one to be energized or relaxed.
Together with the Asana (physical excersise) and the Pranayama (Concentration on breathing), one is able to attain a state of self-realization.

I have been taking Tom's classes for about 10 months.
Tom has a calm and understanding voice and his directions move smoothly with his use of English and Japanese.
He is aware of all members of the class and offers clear advice and motivational coaching.
Tom has a natural happy ease that envelopes the class environment.
His classes are a true place to find an inner balance.

Tom is an amazing dynamic yoga teacher, with enormous patience and positive energy. I had the pleasure of having beginner lessons with Tom, and always felt motivated and energized after these.
I then had Tom conduct some yoga classes with my team, which were very successful, as well as supporting some of our Employee Wellness Program activates which were very well received.
I would highly recommend Tom’s yoga classes, either one to one or in groups.
Can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store with Tom.

Private Student - Beginner
We start our weekends refreshed and full of energy after Tom’s yoga class in the privacy of our home on Saturday mornings.
Tom effortlessly adapts his teachings to our skills, which are starting to exceed initial expectations of our own potential.
Tom brings a positive energy and a big smile, starting our weekends with a boost of “all that is good”

Private Student
I was introduced to Tom as a yoga teacher who would help my husband and I make yoga a part of our everyday lives.
He has definitely achieved that by teaching us to walk while relaxing our upper bodies, relaxing into yoga poses for longer 3, 4, 5 mins to poses tailored to the stiff points in our bodies.
We thoroughly enjoy his private classes at our home, his company and our discussions on lifestyle chooses.
We hope to be practicing yoga with Tom for many decades to come.
